How to join, add wines, and rate like a pro
Getting Started
Click the Party Link
Host will send you a link. Click it to open the party on your phone - no app needed!
Enter Your Name
First time joining? Enter your name. It's saved so you don't need to re-enter each time.
Add Your Wine (Optional)
Bringing wine? Click "Add Wine" to register what you're bringing. It's private - only you see it!
Rate & Enjoy!
Tap any wine to rate it. Give it 1-5 stars and add your thoughts. Repeat for each wine you taste!
Adding Your Wines
How to Add
- Click the "Add Wine" button on the party page
- Enter wine details:
- Name: Your wine's name or blind label (e.g., "Red Mystery A")
- Type: Red, White, Rosé, etc. (optional)
- Vintage: Year (optional)
- Maker: Vineyard name (optional)
- Cost: What you paid (optional - e.g., "$25" or "$20-30")
- Click "Add Wine & Done" - it's automatically marked as brought by you!
Privacy Note: If blind mode is ON, only you see wines you added. Other guests can't peek! Details revealed together at the end.
Rating Wines
Star Ratings
Tap any wine to open the rating dialog. Give it 1-5 stars:
- ⭐ 1 Star: Didn't enjoy it
- ⭐⭐ 2 Stars: It was okay
- ⭐⭐⭐ 3 Stars: Good wine
- ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 Stars: Really enjoyed it
- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars: Outstanding!
Adding Comments
Comments are optional but fun! Share:
- Tasting notes: "Hints of cherry and oak"
- Pairing ideas: "Would go great with steak"
- First impressions: "Smooth finish!"
- Reactions: "Wow, this is amazing!"
NFC Quick Rating
If the host set up NFC tags on bottles:
- Hold your phone near the bottle (top back, near camera)
- Your phone will open the rating page automatically
- Rate and submit - super fast!
Note: Works on iPhone 7+ and most Android phones. No special setup needed!
Understanding Blind Mode
What's Hidden?
When blind mode is ON (you'll see 🔒 indicator):
- Wine makers and vintages are hidden
- Wine costs are hidden
- Who brought each wine is hidden
- You only see wines you added (pre-party)
When revealed (blind mode OFF):
- All wine details shown
- You see all wines from all guests
- Bringers revealed on Results page
- Winner announced with who brought it!
Pro Tips
Add wines early: Get the link from the host a few days before. Add your wines in advance - builds anticipation!
Rate honestly: No one sees who rated what - be honest! That's the whole point of blind tasting.
Leave comments: Comments make the reveal more fun! Your tasting notes will be shown with your name.
No wrong answers: Everyone's taste is different. Rate what you like - that's your perfect wine!
Common Questions
Can I change my rating?
Not currently - first instinct is usually best anyway! Feature coming soon.
Do I need to rate all wines?
Nope! Only rate what you taste. No pressure to try everything.
Can others see my ratings?
They see the average rating but not who gave what stars. Comments show your name though!
What if I don't bring wine?
Totally fine! You can still join and rate. Not everyone needs to bring wine.
My phone doesn't scan NFC - what now?
No problem! Just browse the wine list on the party page and tap to rate. NFC is just a shortcut.
